What are the laundry hours of operation?
The laundry facility is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
How much does it cost to use the laundry (fees, payment methods)?
Usage is at your own expense and payable in cash only (coins).
Do I need to make a reservation in advance?
No, reservations are not required.

ECO-CENTRE
Who has access?
Certain exceptions may be granted and must be discussed in advance with the eco-centre manager or Band Council General Management.
Where is the community eco-centre located?
What are the eco-centre hours?
The eco-centre is open from May to November and closes once snow accumulates on the ground. Opening hours and the list of statutory holidays are available here: view the schedule.
What materials can I bring to the eco-centre (waste, bulky items, electronics, etc.)?

Is it free or are there fees for certain items?
Yes, it is free of charge.
Are there rules to follow before bringing items?
- Use of the Odanak eco-centre is reserved for Odanak residents.
- Use of the eco-centre outside of opening hours is prohibited.
- Users must stop their vehicle at reception and identify themselves with an official document showing their address.
- Users must unload their own items, in the order of arrival and/or according to the attendant’s instructions.
- Use of machinery or dump trailers to unload into containers is prohibited.
- It is prohibited to remove safety guardrails or enter containers.
- Industrial hazardous materials are not accepted. Accepted hazardous materials must be brought in their original container or in a clearly identified container with a maximum capacity of 20 litres (5 gallons).
- Smoking is strictly prohibited on site.
- The speed limit on site is 10 km/h.
- Young children and animals must remain inside vehicles.
- Hunting on site is prohibited.
- Oversized items must be dismantled or cut prior to disposal.

What information must I provide for a genealogical search?
- A scanned copy of your birth certificate
- A scanned copy of your parents’ marriage certificate, death certificate, or birth certificates
- A scanned copy of your grandparents’ marriage certificate, death certificate, or birth certificates, if they were born or married after 1941.

- Father’s full name
- Mother’s full name
- Date and place of marriage (if applicable)
- Paternal grandfather’s full name
- His spouse’s full name

How can I request a genealogical record from the Council?

How long does a genealogical search take?
This depends on the scope of the research required. Generally, an initial follow-up is conducted within approximately two weeks after receipt of the request.
Is this service free or paid?
This service is free.
Who can I contact for help with my genealogy?
We commit to assisting you only if you may be eligible for the Odanak citizenship code. If so, please contact genealogie@caodanak.com.

POST-SECONDARY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Who is eligible for post-secondary financial assistance?
To be eligible, the student must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a registered member listed on the Odanak Band List*
- Have been a resident of Canada for at least one year (12 consecutive months) at the time the application is received (proof required)
- Be enrolled in a college or university program leading to a diploma
- Submit a complete funding application to the Education Department within the required deadlines
*For students obtaining Indian Status during the school year, funding begins on the official registration date with Indigenous Services Canada. Funding is not retroactive prior to status recognition for allowances, books, or tuition fees.
What documents must I submit with my application?
You must submit your action plan, the post-secondary financial assistance application form, contract, proxy-authorization, and all documents listed in the checklist.
What are the application deadlines?
How long does it take to know if my application is approved?
A maximum of 30 days is required to confirm approval.
Can I apply if I study outside the community?
Yes.

The Odanak Citizenship Code was adopted by members and determines eligibility for membership. It promotes unity, cultural integrity, and social harmony among the Abenaki of Odanak.

HUNTING, FISHING AND TRAPPING

INDIVIDUAL SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP
What is the individual sports scholarship and who can apply?
This scholarship program aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits – physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional. The Abenaki of Odanak Band Council offers financial assistance of up to $1,500 per member, subject to eligibility and available budget.
Eligibility criteria:
- Be a member of the Abenaki of Odanak
- Promote healthy lifestyle habits through sport
- Submit a complete application form (including registration receipt, instructor proof, and declaration of practice from the member, parent, or guardian) within prescribed timelines
- Be under 18 years of age
- Participate in organized amateur sports programs such as Quebec student sports networks (RSÉQ) and/or federated leagues
